Born in Paris in 1974, he first came to my attention in 2001 for his Prada S/S campaign. I was surprised to see a fairly unknown photographer on such a big job, the shots were beautifully composed and this fairly simple, no-frills studio set-up that still holds its ground today. I loved the all compositions!
Some of these images (see below) were shown at MOMA as part of the 2004 Fashioning Fiction exhibit.
Cédric Buchet has worked with numerous magazines including i-D Magazine, Vogue Paris & Japan, V Magazine, and Dazed & Confused. I've especially been loving his work for 10 Magazine, at first I thought his newest style lacked polish, but his very relaxed approach has grown on me, and I feel his work has maturity and is the definition of effortless chic.
Despite their simple set up, the 10 magazine covers are totally memorable. Also shooting a big celebrity like Victoria Beckham is a huge feat, and Cedric's images of her are absolutely beautiful!
There's a surprisingly large amount of work with Polish model Malgosia Bela, I think the two make a great team and the images are always striking.
